FAQ
Straight answers about sales funnels and the FunnelForge generator.
What is a sales funnel in simple terms? +
A sales funnel is a model of the steps a stranger takes to become a customer: they discover you (awareness), get interested, compare options, decide, and buy — with retention and advocacy often added after the purchase. The 'funnel' shape reflects that fewer people reach each later stage.
What are the 5 stages of a sales funnel? +
The most common five-stage version is Awareness, Interest, Consideration, Decision and Action — closely related to the AIDA model (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action). Many teams add Retention and Advocacy after purchase. The full breakdown is in our sales funnel stages guide.
What is TOFU, MOFU and BOFU? +
Top, Middle and Bottom of Funnel. TOFU is awareness content for strangers (blogs, social, video). MOFU is consideration content for evaluating prospects (guides, webinars, comparisons). BOFU is decision content for ready buyers (trials, demos, consultations).
What is the AIDA model? +
AIDA stands for Attention, Interest, Desire, Action — a framework from 19th-century advertising theory describing the psychological stages a buyer moves through. It remains widely used for ad copy, landing pages and sales scripts.
How is a sales funnel different from a sales pipeline? +
A sales funnel describes the buyer's journey (awareness to purchase); a sales pipeline describes the seller's process (prospecting to closed deal). Funnels are buyer-centric and linear; pipelines are team-centric and operational.
Which funnel framework should my business use? +
Use AIDA for messaging and campaigns, TOFU/MOFU/BOFU for content strategy, the SaaS model for product-led software, the e-commerce model for online stores, and the B2B model when a sales team closes deals. Our frameworks comparison covers all five.
Do funnels work for small businesses? +
Yes — arguably they matter more, because small teams cannot afford wasted effort. Even a simple three-stage map (attract, nurture, convert) focuses limited time on the highest-leverage work.
Is the FunnelForge generator really free? +
Yes. It runs entirely in your browser with no signup, no server and no tracking. Randomization uses crypto.getRandomValues(). See the privacy page for details.
Can a generated funnel guarantee sales? +
No. The generator produces planning templates — stage names, descriptions, content ideas and CTAs. Whether they convert depends on your traffic, offer and product, which only your own data can validate.
How many stages should my funnel have? +
Most funnels work best with 4 to 6 stages: enough to distinguish buyer mindsets, few enough that the team actually uses them. Start with a classic model, then add or merge stages based on your real conversion data.
